Yoga Bliss by the Beach

Join Anne for a seven-day soul-enriching retreat on the beautiful coast of Sayulita, Mexico. Yoga will take place twice daily in an open-air pavilion with panoramic views of the Pacific ocean. Mornings will begin with a strong and focused two-hour class. In the evenings we will gather for a 90-minute session where we will break down asanas in a workshop format, enjoy soothing restoratives, and tap into the subtle body through pranayama and meditation.  Yoga retreats are a great opportunity to deepen your personal practice and gain insight through self-inquiry and more individual attention.

The combination of the ocean and the jungle creates a picturesque backdrop to unwind from everyday life, allowing you to reconnect to both your inner peace and your playful side! In your downtime, enjoy a hike down to the private beach, go horseback riding or zip lining in the jungle, or take a surf lesson. Take advantage of the infinity pool, read a book, treat yourself to a luxury spa treatment, or walk to the nearby town of Sayulita. This is your time to reconnect to your center, to the things that inspire you in life, and open your heart to new perspectives.

Haramara Retreat Center was named one of the '10 Best Yoga Retreats in the World’ by Yoga Journal. The cabanas are hand-built with all natural materials, complete with private baths, outdoor showers, and exceptional views of the ocean and jungle canopy. Delicious and healthy gourmet vegetarian meals are made from only the freshest natural and local ingredients.

Anne Van Valkenburg
Anne’s journey with yoga began over twenty-five years ago from a place of curiosity and a love of physical activity. It quickly became the focus of her life, both personally and professionally. She has taught in various settings: public classes, in-home private sessions, destination retreats, and, most notably, the YogaWorks 200-hour and 500-hour Instructor Certifications.  In 2019, she pursued a lifelong dream of living in Hawaii and accepted a position as the Wellness Manager for Sensei, a start-up company focusing on complete well-being. For two years, she created original programs, managed a diverse team of wellness practitioners, and refined guest experiences in partnership with Four Seasons Hotels.  Still living in Hawaii, Anne has created her own online yoga ... FAQ

What is the cancellation & refund policy?

A $500 non-refundable and non-transferable deposit is required to secure your participation in this retreat. The final balance payment is due by Feb 7, 2022 and we will send you an invoice with a link to complete payment approximately one week in advance of the deadline. If you do not complete payment by the due date, the card on file will be automatically charged on Feb 7, 2022 unless you advise us in advance of that date in writing that you are canceling. As provided in our Terms & Conditions all payments made by Feb 7, 2022a re final and non-refundable/non-transferable.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes. As all payments to International Yoga are non-refundable, the purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended to ensure you are covered should any unexpected event arise. A personal, political, environmental, health or weather-related incident or pre-existing medical condition may prevent or interrupt your travels.  Should you elect to not purchase travel insurance, note that you will be assuming 100% of any costs incurred for trip cancellation or trip interruption.

There are a broad variety of policies and providers for you to choose from. Be sure to understand the fine print of the policy you select to ensure you know exactly what is and isn't covered, especially if you are concerned you may need to cancel for COVID-19 / pandemic-related reasons which most carriers would cover only under a "Cancel for Any Reason" tier of coverage. IMPORTANT: in order to guarantee maximum coverage, most travel insurance providers require that you obtain a policy within 5-10 days of placing your initial deposit. Although International Yoga cannot advise on specific policies or providers, you may find this guide helpful.

What airport do I fly into?

Your international flight needs to be booked round trip to Puerto Vallarta (airport code: PVR).

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

No, airport transfers are not included in your trip. Once you have provided us with your flight information, we will organize your airport transfer for you. The total cost of the transfer from the airport to/from Haramara is $65 - $100 based on the number of passengers in the van. Your driver will collect the fee and US dollars are accepted. We will advise on the exact cost of your transfer pertaining to total passengers 1-2 weeks before departure.

What are the accommodations like?

Wake up each morning in your own secluded jungle cabana with ocean views. These individual rooms have their own private bathrooms with a shower, a flush toilet and hot and cold water. Sleep in comfortable hand woven sheets and enjoy the gentle breezes from the Pacific Ocean. Each cabana is open-air style to allow for maximum relaxation. Some cabanas have private hammocks for lazy afternoon siestas. Enjoy, this slice of paradise is yours for the week!

Are meals included in my program cost?

Delicious and healthy gourmet meals are made from only the freshest natural and local ingredients.  The menu is chosen daily by the chef based on the ingredients that are available.  The always-changing daily menu includes seafood or vegetarian dishes.  Special dietary restrictions or requirements can be accommodated. Please be sure to note these in your registration form.

Coffee and fresh squeezed juice is offered in the mornings.  Tea, purified water and fresh fruit water are available all day.  Beer, wine and margaritas are available for purchase in the afternoons and at dinner.

What if I am traveling alone?

International Yoga gets hundreds of individuals each year who travel alone on retreat.

If you prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. In the event we are unable to match you with another traveler 50% of the single supplement will be applied to your final balance.

If you prefer to have your own room, a single supplement will also applied.

Are gratuities included?

Tips for the kitchen, dining & housekeeping staff are not included in your trip price. We suggest that you budget $15 U.S. per day/person or $100 US per week/person. This will be shared amongst all the service staff. You may leave this with our manager at the end of your stay. Gratuities for the Spa Staff need to be paid directly to them at the time of service. All gratuities should be paid in cash.

Do I need a visa for travel to Mexico?

No, acquiring a visa prior to your travel to Mexico is not required. During the flight to Puerto Vallarta you will be given documentation to fill out which you will then need to present to the immigration official upon your entry into Mexico. BE SURE YOU KEEP THIS PIECE OF PAPER FOR YOUR DEPARTURE. You will be asked for this upon check-in for your return flight home. If you do not have this piece of paper there will be a fine and the hassle of redoing all of this paperwork on the spot!

Does my travel require any vaccinations?

There are no required vaccinations for travel to Mexico. However, there are some recommended (suggested) vaccinations given by the CDC. To see the complete list of what is recommended, please visit the CDC Website and consult with your primary care physician to make a decision on what is best for you.

What is the weather like in Sayulita?

The weather is expected to be warm and humid with highs ranging in the upper to mid 80's during the day.

Are Phones/Internet/Fax available at Haramara?

There are no phones, internet or fax out at Haramara Retreat.  If you would like to use the phone, internet, or fax you will need to go into the town of Sayulita. We will provide you with ermergency contact information before departure.

Is there electricity?

There is no electricity in the cabanas.  They are illuminated at night with oil lamps and candles.  You will be unable to use any small electrical appliances like hair dryers, curling irons or razors.  There are no fans or air conditioning in the cabanas.  If you want to read at night, you will need to bring a book light with you.  There is no outdoor lighting so you will need to carry a flashlight or use a headlamp at night.  There is, however, electricity in the Yoga Pavilion and the Restaurant for recharging batteries.  It is the same voltage as the United States so no converter is needed.

How many people are expected on this retreat?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 12-20 attendees is a general average.
