Yoga & Culture in Cambodia

Join Margi for a journey to Siem Reap, the home of Angkor Wat, one of the world’s most important ancient monuments and a sight not to be missed in this lifetime. Built in the 1100s, this gorgeous and inspiring Hindu temple complex is the national symbol of Cambodia and holds great pride for the Khmer culture. The grandeur and beauty of the structures are only matched by the skilled artistry of the thousands of intricately carved bas-reliefs. The ancient kings of Cambodia competed to outdo each other in the size, scale, and symmetry of their building efforts, culminating in the world’s largest religious building, Angkor Wat.

Our days have been skillfully designed to get the most out of our time here, with an eye for avoiding the crowds. We will see all of the more well-known highlights of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as a few off-the-beaten-track treasures, where we will likely be the only visitors there. Our accommodations are in a lovely 4-star hotel with a warm and welcoming staff. Cambodia has experienced decades of political upheaval, civil war, and tragedy, yet what you will likely remember the most from your visit is the indomitable spirit and warmth of its citizens.

FAQ

What airport do I fly into?

You will book your international ticket into and out of Siem Reap International Airport (airport code: REP).

If you wish to arrive a day early to settle in and get acclimated we can request additional nights at our group hotel. Please contact us directly for rates.

Do I need a visa for travel to Cambodia?

Entry into Cambodia requires a visa. You can get an E-Visa in advance (strongly recommended) or, obtain a visa upon arrival when you arrive in Siem Reap. The visa upon arrival will require one passport-size photograph and the fee in cash, which is currently USD $30 per person.

IMPORTANT:  our passport must have at least six months validity remaining after your date of entry into Cambodia.

Are airport transfers included ?

Yes, private airport transfers are included in the price of your trip. Whenever you arrive, day or night you will be met by a private driver and transported to the group hotel. Note if you arrive early and decide to stay at an alternate location other than our group hotel, you will be responsible for coordinating and paying for your own transportation directly with the hotel where you will be staying.

What if I am traveling alone?

We get hundreds of travelers each year who go on retreat alone. If you are traveling without a friend or partner, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason, we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply.

If you prefer to have your own private room, a single supplement will apply.

How many people are expected on this retreat?

Attendance varies from trip to trip, but 12 to 25 attendees is a general average.

Are gratuities included?

No, gratuities are not included in the price of your program. We suggest tipping our guides with USD $5 - 15 per person per day, while drivers usually receive USD $3 - 5 per person per day. We suggest approximately USD$5-$8 per person per day for hotel housekeeping, bellman, wait staff etc.

Are meals included?

Breakfasts are included throughout the journey. Suggestions for off-site restaurants and meal options for Siem Reap can be viewed here. You can plan for lunches & dinners to cost approximately $5 - $20/person when dining outside of the hotel.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes. As all payments to International Yoga are non-refundable, the purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended to ensure you are covered should any unexpected event arise. A personal, political, environmental, health or weather-related incident or pre-existing medical condition may prevent or interrupt your travels.  Should you elect to not purchase travel insurance, note that you will be assuming 100% of any costs incurred for trip cancellation or trip interruption.

There are a broad variety of policies and providers for you to choose from. Be sure to understand the fine print of the policy you select to ensure you know exactly what is and isn’t covered — especially if you are concerned you may need to cancel for COVID-19 / pandemic-related reasons which most carriers would cover only under a "Cancel for Any Reason" tier of coverage. IMPORTANT: in order to guarantee maximum coverage, most travel insurance providers require that you obtain a policy within 5-10 days of placing your initial deposit. Although International Yoga cannot advise on specific policies or providers, you may find this guide helpful.

What is the cancellation policy for this trip?

A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot on the trip. The final balance payment is due November 17, 2022. If you cancel prior to the final balance due date we will refund any payments you have made, minus the non-refundable deposit.  All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable after November 17, 2022. International Yoga must strictly adhere to its cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of retreat. Click here to view the Terms and Conditions to which you agree upon registration.

If you wish to cancel your participation on this program you must advise International Yoga in writing to: [email protected]
